SAFE-GARD® is an impact resistant composite that is dry laminated to glass during the window manufacturing process. Windows enhanced by SAFE-GARD® provide greater protection from storms, burglars and glass-related accidents. Best of all, glass with SAFE-GARD® provides peace of mind 24 hours a day.
How do we use SAFE-GARD®?
SAFE-GARD® is applied to the glass in the factory prior to the window unit assembly forming a secure bond between the glass and frame. Pioneered and developed by Film Technologies International, Inc., This process, known as dry lamination, helps to prevent broken glass shards from flying out of the frame, reducing the risk of personal injury, unwanted entry and property damage or loss.
Has SAFE-GARD® been tested?
SAFE-GARD® has been independently tested for impact resistance and meets the rigid standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) 1201, Category II and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z97.1 (unlimited) and the Building Official Code Association (BOCA).
Is this expensive?
As a component of your window manufacturing process, SAFE-GARD® literally offers more for less. SAFE-GARD window film is extremely strong and lightweight. This unique film meets the same safety standards as tempered glass. But, because it’s lightweight, you’ll save money on shipping costs and delivery lead times.
What about highwinds & storms?
High winds from storms can be deterred by storm shutters or plywood, but only when installed. SAFE-GARD® provides added protection from storms and wind, even when the homeowners aren’t home. SAFE-GARD® also keeps broken glass in place, minimizing wind and water damage to the interior of the home.
